Teams & registration

How do I register my team with FASA?

Create a free account to get started. Coaches set up and manage their own team, add a roster, and register for sanctioned events from the member dashboard.

New to FASA? Choose Coach when you create your account and you can start your team right away.

You can add a player to your roster right away - a parent or guardian does not have to confirm first. Invite them so they can see their player's team and events.

How do I enter my team in a tournament?

Find a sanctioned event on the Events page, open it, and register the division you want to play. Each event page shows the entry fee, format, dates, and location before you commit.

Find events

Can I add pickup players?

Yes, when the event allows them. Up to three pickup players are permitted and rosters lock at check-in. A pickup player is added for one tournament and comes off the roster after it ends. No parent sign-off is required for a pickup to play.

Rules & policies

What is a 3 game guarantee?

A 3 game guarantee means your team plays at least three games at that tournament, win or lose. Many FASA weekend events are built this way.

Each event page shows its games-guaranteed number alongside the format, dates, location, and entry fee, so you know what you are getting before you enter.

How do I follow live scores and brackets?

Scores, brackets and standings update as games finish. Open the event your team is playing from the Events page and follow the bracket from there - no account needed.

How do I get FASA to sanction my tournament?

FASA sanctions tournaments nationwide, run by approved event directors. If you want to host or direct a FASA event, get in touch through the About page and we will get you set up.

About FASA

Who can create a team and who confirms players?

A coach creates and owns the team, and adds players directly. A parent or guardian's name is required to add a player, so there is always an adult on file. Provide at least one contact method for that parent or guardian: an email address, a phone number, or both. No parent sign-off is required for a player to join or play. Parents can be invited to enter their own player, and the parent is emailed to record their approval on the roster. That approval status is informational: it never blocks a player from joining a team or playing.

Classification & points

How do teams earn points?

Every registered team starts each season with registration points, paid or not. Paying the season's sanction fee online or early can add bonuses. Eligible closed-event finishes add points: Qualifier, Showcase, League and MVP use the base rate; NIT doubles it; Regional Qualifier and State triple it; World Series and National Tournament quadruple it. CAMP awards no season points. Nothing carries over when the next season starts on August 1. The points explainer lists the amounts and payment-date cutoffs.

What is a Double-Points Weekend?

A handful of weekends each year are Double-Points Weekends. If your event ENDS during one of those windows, its finish points double on top of the event's tier multiplier. Registration, card and early-payment bonuses do not double. The current windows are listed on the points explainer.

How points work

How are teams classified A, B, or C?

Your earned class uses eligible final bracket results from closed events, not points or pool games. An audited admin override takes priority, followed by an admin's team lock. Otherwise an unpaid team is Class B; paid drafted-league teams are FASA REC and paid non-drafted-league teams are FASA SELECT REC. Other paid teams use win percentage and run differential; paid travel teams with no eligible bracket games start at Class B. Classes recalculate every Monday night, subject to overrides and locks. The seasonal classification freeze preserves existing earned classes while points and records can still update. See the classification explainer for the exact thresholds and precedence.

How classification works

What age group does my daughter play in?

Her age group is set by how old she is on August 1 — the start of the season. A 12U team, for example, is for players who are 12 or younger on that August 1. She can always play up an age group, but not down.

The age-groups table on the classification page lists every group with the exact 'born on or after' date for the current season.

How are events seeded?

The director chooses Seed by points, Seed by pool play or Random draw for the event. Points seeding uses FASA season points; the director may change places only among teams tied on points. Pool seeding pre-fills the order from pool results, and the director can edit those seeds. Random draw assigns the seed order randomly when the bracket is built.

Umpires

How do I become a FASA umpire?

Create a free account and choose Umpire when you sign up - a reviewer approves your request, and your state or area umpire-in-chief (UIC) handles sanctioning from there. A sanctioned umpire works FASA events in their area for 365 days from the day their sanction starts.

Create an account

Do umpires renew every year?

Yes, and the year runs from the day your sanction starts - not from the start of a season. If your sanction starts on 12 June 2026, you pay again on 12 June 2027. Your umpire record shows the exact date under Renewal due. Umpire sanctioning is not tied to a season, so it does not reset on August 1 the way a team's does.

Renewal opens 45 days before your renewal date. Renew early and you stay sanctioned through your current renewal date while it is paid and approved; your new year then starts on that old renewal date, so you lose no days. If your renewal date has already passed, the new year starts from the day you pay.

What is a UIC?

UIC stands for Umpire-in-Chief. Each state and area has a UIC who oversees officiating and helps assign and support umpires at events.

Payments, privacy & SMS

What does it cost, and how do I pay?

Teams pay an annual sanction fee once per season, plus the entry fee for each event they enter. Entry fees are set per event and shown on the event page.

Contact your tournament director for entry-fee payment instructions and the national office for sanction fees.

What is the refund policy?

Refunds are handled by FASA. If you need to withdraw or have a question about a payment, contact the director of the event you registered for.
